Fred was surrendered to the shelter by his owner, he is approximately 1-2 years old and weighed 30.5 pounds when he was neutered. He is a happy boy who spent his life outdoors and is now learning to be good inside. His trainers absolutely love him. Fred is heart worm negative, on heart preventative, current on vaccinations. The Pups On Parole program started in June of 2007 to help give homeless dogs a second chance at finding an adoptive family. All the dogs in the program spent time in our local county animal shelter waiting for their owners to redeem them or to be adopted into a new family. Some of these dogs were scheduled for euthanasia prior to being placed in our program.; The selected dogs are brought current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered if necessary, micro chipped, and heart worm tested.They are taken to the California Correctional Center Firehouse in Susanville, California, where they are assigned to a trainer/ inmate fire fighter. These trainers take these dogs, bathe them, groom them, train them in basic obedience, and give them the extra time and attention they need to become wonderful family companions. Most graduates are house trained and know basic obedience commands. As of May 1, 2013, 330 dogs have been adopted through this program.; To meet any of the Pups On Parole, arrangements must be made in advance.
