Candie (nicknamed Willa by her foster parents) is a petite  basset  that is full of energy! She came to GGBR as a stray and was so sweet-tempered that the shelter they named her Candie. Her tail is constantly going!  Candie loves to have her belly rubbed (so much so, in fact, that she will even crawl across the rug in order to rub her own belly.) Candie is a spunky dog and really enjoys long, brisk-paced walks, so an active home would be good for her. She also loves her cuddle time, and will happily curl up on the couch for extended snuggles, putting her head right into your lap. Like every basset, she also really likes her nap time, and will curl herself into a ball for sleeping.  Candie can get grumpy when approached by other dogs when she's in her bed.

Candie has made some amazing progress just in the short time she's been with her foster family!  She came to us with a very coarse coat that, with a better diet, is now quite soft.  She's also learned some basic commands, so sit and stay aren't completely foreign anymore. She does have some separation anxiety when left alone for long periods of time, which we're working on, but she may do well in a home where she can have a set schedule.  Candie is really incredibly endearing, with great puppy-dog basset  eyes and pretty feet  (she has white mittens on turned-out feet).  Her wiggling tail is looking for the perfect forever home - maybe it's you!

Candie is spayed, heartworm negative, housebroken, and up to date on her vaccinations. She will soon be microchipped. Candie does have a heart murmur that is being investigated.
