Learn more about the Basset Hound.
Doris has been loved in her previous life, before she became a stray, and now she is looking for love in all the right places (GGBR). At approximately 6 years of age and 57 pounds, this beautiful gal with a wonderfully happy disposition, is an easy one to love. The shelter staff described her as 'little' but when she bounded out of the shelter wiggling and wagging to be claimed by GGBR, it was obvious she was far from being 'little'. Her feet are large, her bone structure sturdy and her tail wags incessantly.
As of this writing, Doris has been in her foster home a very short time. Already it is clear that she adapts well to new situations, is friendly with adults (hasn't been around children or cats yet) and other dogs. Although she loves to eat, she shows no food aggression and does not 'counter surf'. She doesn't seem to have any fears and is about as obedient as a basset can be. She loves to go on walks, pulling most of the way. Doris has no hesitation about getting up on furniture and human laps. She is sleeping in her own bed but would rather be spending her nights on her owner's bed. Doris is housebroken and is starting to use the dog door.
Doris is spayed, negative for heartworms, has been dewormed and just had her teeth cleaned. She is up to date on all her shots, has been microchipped, and is in good health.
Doris is one lovely, happy basset that will bring joy to any family lucky enough to adopt her!
