Close the gap of the dark years in between
You and me Cassidy...”
(Cassidy, Grateful Dead)

Ms. Cassidy came to GGBR as a stray from the Modesto Shelter in Stanislaus County California. When we rescued her, she was a filthy, extremely thin (literally a skeleton on legs), covered in fleas, and her tail was so swollen from a skin irritation that it looked wider than her tiny waist. She has also just recently had a litter as her teats and stomach are quite baggy.

Cassidy has eyes that are full of soul…you can look into them and see all the years of pain and suffering she endured. Her best feature is her gorgeous coloring—her coat is the most beautiful auburn you will ever see on a basset hound. She also has a great wavy white line down her back that adds to her spectacular good looks.

She is a very sweet girl with a great personality! Even though she was likely mistreated she is still very trusting and loving with humans. She also loves dogs and plays well with her foster brother and sister (both basset hounds). There is a kitty cat living in her foster home as well, but Cassidy doesn’t chase her—she just watches her intently like “what is THAT thing?”

Cassidy LOVES to cuddle and wants to be around her humans constantly. She is very intelligent as well. She has learned that when Mom puts on shoes she is likely leaving soon and the whining ensues. Cassidy is one to vocalize her displeasure and will bark for a while when left alone in the house (even with other dogs). She has only have limited accidents in the house (just puddles) but seems to know that outside is the place to ‘pick a spot.’

As of October 7 she weighs only 33 lbs. and the Vet wants her to gain more weight before she is spayed. So she will not be available for adopting probably until mid-November or so.

Cassidy came in with Bruno, also listed on our website but are currently in separate foster homes.  If you're looking for a lovely pair to adopt these two  might just fit the bill.  They can also be adopted separately.
