Penelope is a 6-month old curious, intelligent, playful, and very sweet Basset mix (soon to be spayed and microchipped) who arrived at our clinic one evening with a fractured elbow her family could not afford to fix.  I was fortunate her family was willing to surrender her to us and, in the seven weeks we've had her, the leg has been surgically repaired and we have begun her rehabilitation process.  Her fracture has healed well and we are now working on rebuilding the strength in the rest of her leg.  Penelope LOVES people (especially men), meeting other dogs, rolling in the grass, her chewy toys, riding in the car, and a belly rub anytime she can con you into one. She is crate trained, housebroken (being a pup, she can still only go about 4 hours without needing to go out though she sleeps well through the night), knows "sit", "lie down" and "kennel" and is working on her other basic commands.  We have "handled" her daily to get her used to having teeth, eyes, ears, and feet checked/touched.

She is still currently limited in her exercise and will likely require some form of rehabilitation and/or exercise restriction for several months to come.   I know she'll make a loving, fun companion for whomever adopts her.

Special Needs: Needs ongoing recuperation until elbow is fully healed. Limited movement for another couple of months. Won't be spayed until she has a home to go to to give her more time to recoup.
