Learn more about the Basset Hound.
George is a handsome, active, loving hound who will need a home that understands his special needs. He will win one's heart with his playfulness and attentiveness. However, he doesn't enjoy being 'smothered' with constant attention or told what to do, and he needs an adopter who can somewhat be the 'leader of the pack.' George gets along well with other dogs, preferably dogs his own size. George is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and heartworm negative. George would likely do best in a home without children or larger dogs. Special Needs: George had an unsuccessful first adoptive placement with a single female adopter where he was the only dog. He seemed to want to be close physically with his adopter but many times suddenly lashed out aggressively toward her. He did not like being moved if he was comfortable on the furniture, and often aggressively resisted. He was returned to foster care as his adopter became increasingly fearful of his aggression. |
